Describe your job role and the kinds of projects/clients you work with.
I’m an editor. Edited shows like 9-1-1 (2 seasons), Chucky, Z-Nation, and indie features. Previously I was an assistant editor on shows like The OA, Love Victor, Outcast, Fear The Walking Dead
I’m also on the board of the Editors Guild and try to help out members in need.
What does an average day look like in your post-production working world?
I’ve been WFH since the pandemic. I will eat breakfast and then call my assistant editor to go over updates and priorities for the day.
I remote in to the system and get to work, usually on Avid. I try to take mini breaks so my brain doesn’t get tired quickly.
I’ll either get lunch with my husband, make myself something or ask him to get me something if I’m very busy.
How did your career in post-production begin?
I majored in media studies in high school and dabbled with all the roles there, where I fell in love with editing.
What has been your career highlight?
The first feature film I ever cut in 2017, Lupe, ended up getting an Eddie award nomination in 2022!
Who are your role models in post?
Dan Lebental was my early mentor. I also want to work on content like what Cindy Mollo, Michelle Tesoro, Amy Duddleston get to work on (smart character journey dramas)
What advice do you have for others wanting to start a career in post?
Learn all the tools. Practice cutting anything and everything. Be a great assistant editor before trying to move into editing. Be kind and help others along the way.
