Describe your job role and the kinds of projects/clients you work with.

I’m a freelance video editor specialising in music videos, promos and branded content. I’ve worked with a range of artists from Alicia Keys, Louis Tomlinson, Paul McCartney, Jorja Smith and more, and worked with brands like Nike, Adidas, Netflix and more.

‘This was a really special one, the team was so lovely and we made something really special together.’

What does an average day look like in your post production working world?

As a freelancer every working day is different, you never really know where you’ll be, who you’ll be with or what you’ll be editing and I love that.

If the job is remote my day starts from home on my laptop. I usually set targets the evening before so when I wake up I’m ready to get going on checking off that list.

When turnovers are intense it can be hard to not work away endlessly. I always try to make time for breaks - something I’m still mastering.

On a weekly basis I reach out to directors who might need me over the coming weeks and try to start blocking out my diary. I keep myself organised, always planning ahead. On quieter days I spend time reaching out to artists/ creators I feel inspired by offering my services on collaborations.

I find noise-cancelling headphones and peppermint tea are the two greatest helpers in my editing world so they’re definitely a big part of my everyday.

‘Sitting with Digs editing this was fun, we had a lot of good times cutting this one.’

How did your career in post production begin?

I studied at Ravensbourne and worked my way into freelancing from there. At first I edited for free to gain experience until I got my foot in the door to paid work.

What has been your career highlight?

Being able to do what I love everyday is such an honour. I’ve met so many incredible friends through this field of work and creating with them is my biggest highlight.

‘This was very fun edit and got nominated Video Of The Year at GRM Daily which I’m forever proud of.’

Who are your role models in post?

There are a lot of editors I follow online from the very established to the new fresh talent that constantly inspire me, so I think all the editors around me are my role models.

What advice do you have for others wanting to start a career in post?

Being active online (Instagram/ TikTok) is a great way to get started - and it’s free.  Post work often, connect with other creators and contact people for collaborations.

Second piece of advice is to remember that money is not the priority, your mental health is. Say no to work and take breaks (if and where you can of course).
